Forgiven

Since trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus’s blood shed for all who believe, all my sins past, present and future are forgiven - so who am I not to forgive others? I have a good relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit but I was a little uneasy with the Father. There was no voice, verse, or sermon, just a “knowing” that God was telling me I needed to forgive my father. So, I began praying “God I forgive my father, please help me forgive my father.” Again, and again over the months when I thought of my father I prayed, “ God I forgive my father, please help me to forgive my father”. Or “ Father I forgive my father. Please help me forgive my father.” That second part of the prayer just seemed to come out on its own. It took 9 months and then it was done, finished. I felt like I’d been given the gift of being able to forgive anyone who might hurt me. Suddenly I understood that though I had forgiven my Dad spiritually and mentally, the buried emotions took much longer. Dads are important. Who ever thought to forgive someone emotionally? A couple of days later I realized that I had forgiven Dad not for just a specific hurt but all the hurts of the past.

I was driving on a snowy day when I hit a bit of ice and my car spun. “Father help me!” Immediately my car stopped. I did not hit a tree or get stuck. As wonderful as it was that God answered my cry, the greater blessing was that I called Him “Father.” Then I realized that He had been there all the time, the Father who loved me. I realized my earlier uneasiness about God the Father was due to my uneasy relationship with my earthly father. That must be why forgiveness is so important.

Much later I went to see my Dad. He was dying. I told him I forgave him and he just nodded. Although I remember when Dad got saved and baptized, and that he read the Bible – several versions, suddenly wondered if He was in Heaven. I cried out to God about that. That night in the middle the night I dreamed. I saw my father. He was talking to me behind a clear glass wall but I couldn’t hear him. Seeing that I couldn’t hear him he walked through the glass wall and just smiled down at me. He was fine. I was fine. Everything was fine.

In the brain there are several pathways for the nerve impulses to go through. At least one of them is spiritual. Many essential oils have spiritual properties and are able to travel those pathways. Young Living carefully formulated an oil blend to help with that. It’s called “Forgiveness”.

The Best Decision

It was 2 months into the school year when we  moved - Third grade and of course I knew no one. I knew that those students had been together since kindergarten. Bonnie walked over and choose me to be her friend. She was good for me and smarter and I struggled to keep up. Her straight A’s to my A’s with a couple B’s. One day she invited me to go to “AWANA” (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed – 11 Timothy 2:15). It was a club with Bible stories, gym, and memorization of Bible verses for which we got awards. Again, I struggled to keep up. I invited my sisters to go. Then my Mom said, “ OK, you can’t do everything. You can choose choir, Girl Scouts or AWANA.” My sisters and I shouted “AWANA.” Then my Mother said, “I’ve got to find what this AWANA is all about.” She went with us and they put her to work  listening to children saying Bible verses. My mother and Bonnie’s mother soon became best friends and we started going to her church.

Bonnie and I sat together quietly playing dot to dot, tic tac toe, or hangman. One day a missionary was there and Bonnie was actually listening. I was OK with that and counted ceiling tiles (Not turning around to the ones in back) and then women who wore hats (Some of you might remember the little hats with netting in front). Then the missionary had us bow our heads - no one looking around. Then he invited anyone who realized they were a sinner, and that God provided us a way be forgiven by believing in Jesus – that He died for us, was buried and rose again, to raise their hand. I felt Bonnie’s arm go up. Shocked I thought “if Bonnie is a sinner I am far worse!” Then all the verses I memorized and understood in my mind – suddenly I understood them in my heart. I knew I needed forgiveness and Life in Jesus.

We went forward together but put in different rooms.  Two men explained Salvation again to make sure I understood. One man took off his watch and said that salvation is a gift. It does not do any good to know this is a watch, and look at it, you can’t buy a gift, you have to accept it, otherwise it is not a gift. I took the watch and we prayed and I accepted Jesus as my Savior. I politely left the watch on the seat but I knew something had changed. There is a verse that says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things are passed away behold all things are made new.”  About a year later I realized I wasn’t sinning as much, not even interested in sinning. It was another confirmation for me that I was indeed saved. I made the 2nd decision and made Jesus my Lord. With salvation comes the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. That is why I have peace in this strange difficult time. I know that some way or other we’ll be OK.

Thieves

Europeans began producing essential oils in the 12th century. During the Black Death plague of the 15th  century which claimed 200 million lives, certain thieves robbed the dead and dying without being infected. Finally, 4 thieves were captured in Marseille France and charged with the crime. At the trial, the magistrate offered them leniency if they would reveal how they managed to protect themselves from the deadly infection in spite of their close contact with diseased corpses. It was disclosed that these thieves were perfumers and spice traders who rubbed themselves with a concoction of herbs, spices and oils making them immune to their deceased victims.

There are various formulas for this blend. Young Living’s formula supports the immune system. It contains clove  immune stimulant. Lemon promotes health and healing. Eucalyptus Radiata has a profound effect on the respiratory system. Rosemary – is another immune stimulant.  All these oils anti …… (you know) and have other properties as well.

In 2009 I got the “swine” flu. Although  I’m sure I had headache, cough , body aches and fatigue but what hit me worse was the high fever and severe shivering – I couldn’t believe how tiring shivering was and how trying to stop it only made it worse. I went to bed with a glass of water, then put on my feet oregano, thyme,Thieves (all highly anti…..) and then layered on peppermint for the fever. Every time I woke up I put on more of the oils. When Mer came home from work and to see how I was he remarked how strong the oils were in the room. I told him what I did. Symptoms began to subside by the next day but I continued with oils on my feet, sleeping and drinking water. By day 3 I was amazingly better – but I took off the next 2 days to rest and recoup. Then I went back to work. I heard that many people also affected were sick for 2 or 3 weeks and some died. I was and still am very thankful for the oils. I do not know if the Thieves blend, which also helps prevent people from getting the sick, will be effective for other viruses. I would think so but, of course, I cannot make that claim.

Demonstrations

I tracked all the plagues that happened over the last 1000 years. The most deadly plague was the bubonic plague also called the black death. It hit Europe in 1347 and claimed 200 million lives. For London it was especially grim, as the plague resurfaced about every 20 years from 1348-1665 – 40 outbreaks in 300 years killing about 20 % of the population each time. By the early 1500s England imposed the first laws to separate and isolate the sick in their homes and buried the dead in mass graves. The plague was caused by fleas infected from infected rats. In London at that time there were no sanitary workers. London stunk. People just dumped their waste and garbage out the windows on to the street. Great breeding ground for rats and dogs and cats. That year they massacred  hundreds of thousands of cats and dogs believed to carry the disease. The last of the great plague was in 1665 killing 100,000 Londoners in just 7 months. All public entertainment was banned and victims were forcibly shut in the homes to prevent the spread of the disease. In 1666 the great fire inferno slashed through London. People thought God was punishing them for their sins. Possibly, but the vast fire killed the rats that carried the disease. 13,200 buildings were destroyed, over 400 acres of the city were burned and 100,00 people were left homeless.

In 1918 the “mother of all pandemics” began at a US Army camp in Kansas. As the disease spread, life in America came to a  standstill. Public gathering places – schools, churches, theaters, and saloons were shuttered. Masks of gauze were ordered to be warned – some people who wore them cut holes in them so they could smoke. Those who did not wear them were called  “mask slackers” and could be fined or jailed. “ Obey the laws and wear the gauze.” Over 11,000 Philadelphia residents died in October 1918. Drivers in open carts kept a near constant vigil circling streets hollering “Bring your dead.” The corpses were then deposited in mass graves excavated by steam shovels.

Some of this information was gleaned from the web.

It’s no wonder today that the public officials who have to make the hard and unpopular decisions have a frustrating time with those who criticize that their rights of freedom of choice are violated by having to wear masks and to social distance and use sanitizers. Our government is just trying the keep the virus from spreading and killing more people and businesses. And now the virus has mutated. I know it’s a very hard time and I don’t minimize that. I applaud and admire those who are doing their best to make things brighter and better. We are the land of the free and home of the brave. Let’s  demonstrate that.

HEAT EXHAUSTION

I am definitely a Northern Girl. If the temperature is 80 degrees or above and especially if humid I do not feel well. Symptoms of heat exhaustion can include clammy skin, dizziness,  headache, muscle cramps, extreme thirst, excessive sweating, dehydration, fainting, nausea, vomiting, weakness, decreased urine output. I just know for me  I feel “sick”  - headache, stomach feels off, and severe fatigue. Then I put on peppermint and went to  bed. Once in Missouri I was helping teach some aromatherapy techniques outdoors. It was very hot and I was failing. One of the other instructors saw me and ran to get some wet ice cold towels to put around my neck to cool me down and cold water to rehydrate. She kept repeating as the towels did not keep cold very long. Then some of the other students and instructors needed the treatment as well... We went to Egypt one time in the spring. It was a dry heat and one of the other Young Living Distributers had peppermint and filled a 3 ounce spray bottle with water and a drop of peppermint. She sprayed some of our faces with the blend. Felt so good. I have a soldier who uses peppermint in his tea every morning and has not had heart burn since. (Well once he had heartburn after many years without but it was from fear just thinking about an upcoming stressful military memorial event. The next day I called and already the heartburn was gone and he was laughing with a fishing buddy.)
So now before I go out on a very hot day I drink a couple drops of peppermint in a glass of water or in my morning NingXia Red and /or put some on my feet or forehead. Do not apply under the eyes as Peppermint is a very volatile (the molecules are very light and travel in the air quickly) and could cause the eyes to water. I did have a farmer who said he put it on and it stung his skin. My theory about that is that he put peppermint on when the pores of the skin were open from the heat.
Peppermint is a “cold” oil. It is helpful with a fever, heartburn (added to your morning tea, or beverage) and hot flashes, also pain, and headaches, even migraine headaches. It’s helpful for the digestive system, muscles and bones, nervous and respiratory systems. It’s good to keep in your medicine cabinet. Think about it with menstrual irregularities, asthma, bronchitis, itchy skin, flu, motion sickness, nausea, and mental accuracy. Of course, I do not diagnose or prescribe. These are historical and French medicinal uses. I just know it has helped me and some of my clients.
