The City Girl loved and married the Country Boy. They have been married a long time. However she really hadn’t wanted to be a farmer’s wife. Because she loved him so much, she went to a Doctor, and for years she was on an antidepressant. Now she wants to get off the chemical medicine. I told her to check with her doctor and see if she could wean off it. But then the covid virus hit and she has not been back yet.
Several years ago before oils there was a troubling circumstance in my life. All the way to work I cried and then all the way back home. I went to my Doctor who said I had anxiety depression and put me on a mild antidepressant. I was quite distressed by that. I am a Christian. I have a good husband, children with good hearts, a nice home, friends … who am I to be depressed? Thankfully, I had a friend who was a psychologist. He knew in the past I would get UTIs (due to stress.) He said when you get a urinary tract infection, don’t you call the doctor and get an antibiotic? This is no different, so you need a little help for a while... My circumstance resolved and I was able to get off the drug about 3 weeks later. I am glad for that experience because I can understand my struggling clients better. Overcoming clinical depression is not a matter of lifting yourself by your bootstraps, or the power of positive thinking or “just get over it.” God understands that. Think of Jesus in Gethsemane. In the book of Matthew it says that Jesus began to be sorrowful and troubled. “My soul is very sorrowful even to death.” Think of the Psalmist, the cries and prayers to God during times of trouble but always ending up in praising God for His faithfulness.
The 2 days of depression took me by surprise and I was encouraged by the Bible verses that came my way and verses I remembered. I began to recover. I have God and a good support system but for those who don’t, or are just feeling a little blue there are so many essential oils and blends that restore your joy – all citrus oils are happy oils; frankincense; lavender; “Joy”; ylang ylang and Valor offsets many negative emotions; sage relieves depression; and ravintsara lifts depression. And that is not even half the oils and blends I found in my Essential Oil Desk Reference.
I want to express gratitude to you all who cared and wrote to cheer my soul and to revive my spirit. Thank you for being a blessing.
