Essential Oils - Then & Now

From Scratch

Mer’s niece is an executive or almost an executive in Pampers Chef which is their major income. She thought with summer and the corona virus that her volume would go down. Pampers Chef deals with kitchen supplies-gourmet, stone wear, grilling, pans, and an assortment of everyday and specialty products. However, her party plan supplies and number of  team members have gone up. It seems that with people being social distancing at home and having less income and more time, more people are cooking from scratch.

Young Living this month featured some vitality essential oils that can be taking internally – perfect for culinary and dietary use. Can be used in drinks and for seasoning – much more potent than fresh or dried herbs and spices. Sometimes just a toothpick into the orifice of the stopper is enough to season cooked or fresh foods. My time at the One Healthy Life office has been reduced at present and I am enjoying cooking the more preparation-time meals. I have quick meals for when I work and go home for lunch. It’s also more creative when supplies are low, like did you know you could cook the long skinny cucumbers? And bake stuffed tomatoes? Some of these vegetables have been given me from other’s bumper crops. I found a baked summer squash meal that has become a favorite (Mer used to think he didn’t like summer squash.) Or when the frig and cupboards are almost bare – what can I put together for a meal? Mer cannot understand how I can make up a meal when “there’s nothing to eat.” As for the essential oils, my favorite is to put a drop or two of dill in the yolk mixture for devilled eggs. Once I put too many drops of oregano in spaghetti sauce (Actually I knew to put in less but several drops accidently dripped out of the bottle.) Mer and Chris valiantly ate that meal. One wealthy lady I met several years ago said that she saves money on food shopping if she serves everything in her cupboards and frig before shopping again. I have cookbooks that often called for herbs I didn’t have and sometimes I used spices that have lost their savor. So far at least the oils I use for cooking continue strong. I wonder if they stay around long enough will I find they are still strong?

Sometimes it’s only a matter of faith and perspective. I have not suffered much and I am not a victim. Some of the violent rioting people believe that it’s the government’s fault that their “ rights have been violated.” Yet others are giving away, being creative and nobly and cheerfully helping even strangers who are hurting. And I am happy hearing those in the media who speak of God, Jesus, saved, church. What a joy it would be if our people would turn again to “In God we trust” which made out country great.
